3 Bahadur Sequel forgettable at Best
Often it happens with filmmakers that they produce surprising effects by reinventing their work in a horrible manner. Such thing happened also with famous Pakistani documentary filmmaker
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy when she entered the animation film industry last year and produced “3 Bahadue”, the first Pakistani animated film.
Chinoy is a two times Oscar award winner for producing documentaries on social issues not talked by people and now it seems that we should remember her only that way after watching
“3 Bahadur Revenge of Baba Balaam” which is the sequel of “3 Bahadur”. Initially, the film looked well but the end result wasn’t such impressive.
Fahad Mustafa and Sarwat Gillani were the main stars in the film in which the fight of Sadi, Kamil and Amna against the cunning plans of Baba Balaam was shown. In the sequel, Baba Balaam brought new thugs in order to capture the watchman Uncle Deenu and fight the children with extraordinary powers.
Heroes are important in films but there is no such ability in the three main characters that they should be used as heroes for children. Despite the effort to make them a typical hero, the story was lacking any such skill to make them real heroes.
Increase in dangers and constant clash are the factors that made the heroes of programs like “The Incredibles” or “Dexter’s Laboratory” superb while these things were missing in the film as they achieved their relatively easily due to weak opponents. It should be remembered that heroes are not made with funny roles.
But few things are nice in this movie as the songs are amazing and attractive as the standard of composer John Angier was clearly seen. The visuals of this sequel were better than the previous film by far. As compared to its predecessor, the colors and textures were rich.
No doubt that our new animation industry is just emerging but we have to improve it by creating a unique style by differentiating us with the visuals of ‘Safeguard’ type animation ads as they might not be adopted by anyone else.
But the worst thing in the film was the uncomfortable ad placement in the film. It was much more like a combination of entertainment and commercialism as whole scenes were promoting different sponsors that deprived the film from its narrative and deteriorated the film further. We can summarize that sponsors were given more importance than storyline of the film.
