Irfan Khan Movie Madaari review
Madaari
Cast: Irfan Khan, Jimmy Shergill, Tushar Dalvi, Vishesh Bansal
Director: Nishikant Kamat
Rating: 2/5
It is usually assumed that few good actors and a good story is enough to make a successful movie but it didn’t happen with film “Madaari” that include actors like Jimmy Shergill and Irrfan Khan and the story is based on vigilante justice.
The starting statement of film by Irrfan Khan shows it to be a social suspense film.
Nishikant Kamat earlier made Mumbai Meri Jaan which also starred Irrfan.
This movie highlights the corrupt system of India while stars like Irrfan and Jimmy are there. But despite all these super things, it proved to be the film which is destroyed while its director is Nishikant Kamat.
Madaari was released on Friday in cinema and it shows the story of a common person Nirmal Kumar (Irrfan) who loses his son due to corruption and then kidnaps the son of home minister (Tushar Dalvi) in order to take revenge. The search operation is head by an officer (Jimmy).
In the start, the preparations of kidnapping by Irrfan are shown including his efforts to foil any rescue while there are similarities between 2008 award-winning film “A Wednesday”. But the biggest problem was pace of the film as it was expanded too much by writer Ritesh Shah. The film should have ended in an hour but it lasted for over two hours.
The reason for taking this movie too long was the touching of too many topics by the writers including corrupt politicians, police system, farmer suicides etc. As a result, it ended up without any clarity. The film was somewhat recovered by the acting of Irrfan and Jimmy.
Irrfan played the part of a desperate father lost his child while Jimmy’s performance as officer was also brilliant. But they could not show their complete talent due to flaws in the script.
But it doesn’t mean that the film is void of any goodness.
There was good comic by Rajjev Gupta in the film. Earlier, Gupta also performed the comedy role of a corrupt politician in film “Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster” along with a role of a corrupt officer named Paan Singh Tomar.
The song “Masoom Sa’ in the background produces the feeling of sorrow very well in the context of the film. Acting of Irrfan Khan as a grieved father is also quite superb.
The movie also portrayed few hard facts of the society including function of Indian people in public, role of politicians, rivalry between ruling and opposition party and change in social media’s perception in no time.
In the end we can say that “Madaari” could not achieved much due to its superior ideas and especially slow pace despite the presence and performance of two great actors Irrfan Khan and Jimmy Shergill.
