Program Zara Hut Kay Suspends For 3 Days PEMRA
Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued order to put ban for three days on the program, ‘Zara Hut Kay’ of Dawn News, as the violation of the clause of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 was made in this program. The suspension of the program will be done from 22 March.
The episode of the program, ‘Zara Hut Kay’ was gone on air on 9 March and during this program and the presenters including Mubashar Zaidi, Zarrar Khuhro and Wusatullah Khan made the comments on the reference, which is pending in the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) against Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
PEMRA took notice of their comments on 10 March and the concerned authority issued the show cause notice to all three participants and the representative of the channel will appear before the personal hearing committee of the authority concerned and they will have to explain their position.
In the show cause notice, the authority concerned pointed out that discussion on the matter, which is pending in the SJC, violated the section 20 (c) of PEMRA Ordinance 2002 and the Rule 15 (1) of PEMRA rules 2009 and clauses 3 (1-j), 4(3) of Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015. PEMRA imposed ban on the program, Zara Hut Kay of Dawn News in the hearing, which was held at PEMRA head office in Islamabad on 17 March. Mubashar Zaidi appeared before the committee for hearing and he denied any intention to show contempt for judiciary during the program.
PEMRA further directed Dawn News to install the effective time delay mechanism during the program in order to facilitate the timely censorship of the malicious or unsuitable comments or the discussions. The private tv channels should constitute the in-house editorial committee.
